President’s Message April 2020
Dear Hans Popper friends and colleagues,
During this most unusual and difficult time around the globe, I hope this spring edition of the HPHS President’s message finds you well. As we all struggle to deal with the many and varied issues surrounding the COVID 19 pandemic, our gratitude and respect for the frontline healthcare workers and their families is abundant.
I would like to share excerpts from a letter announcing a COVID 19 pathology resource created by our amazing friends at the NIH, including one of our past HPHS Presidents, David Kleiner.
Finally I would like to thank Sanjay, Grace and Mike for a really great USCAP 2020 Companion Meeting which was held on Sunday March 1 st in Los Angeles! The speaker line up was exciting and the meeting was very well attended. Furthermore, the HPHS Saturday evening reception, initially the brainchild of former Popper President Isabel Fiel (bravo Isabel!), was again hugely successful. The evening reception is designed to be a lively and informal way our society can gather, relax and get to know each other better. Please make a note to attend next year.
During this year’s evening reception, the newly established Lifetime Achievement Award and ceremony honored four fabulous liver pathologists, Drs. Beth Brunt, Stephen Geller, Frank Mitros and Ian Wanless. We all continue to benefit from the innumerable significant contributions made by each of these talented hepatopathologists.
I look forward to serving you all as the HPHS President for the next couple of years. The Executive Committee is dedicated to maintaining our wonderful society and gradually making improvements where possible. We have plans for some exciting website updates and new opportunities to get members involved within the society, and involved in teaching and Speaking at various national and international meetings.
Best,
Cindy Guy
